In patients with allergic or eosinophilic asthma, it also helps us know how well inhaled steroids are suppressing this inflammation and also if the patient has been taking the medications adequately or has skipped them.

Forced Oscillation Technique is a newer Lung Function Testing Method which does not require children to blow out forcefully and can performed at tidal breathing that is in normal breathing. The test makes it very comfortable for young children and also those who have had recent chest surgeries or undergone certain chest procedures.

It is often used to diagnose and monitor chronic pulmonary conditions like Asthma. Spirometry is one of the most common type of pulmonary function test and is performed by blowing into a plastic tube. The test measures how much air your child can exhale in a single breath and how fast the air comes out. It is especially helpful for determining whether there are any obstructions in the airways that cause difficulty in breathing.

Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing. Spirometry may also be used periodically to monitor your lung condition and check whether a treatment for a chronic lung condition is helping you breathe better.
